205 million Americans drink coffee every day – and while more people are using alternative brewing methods like organic coffee filters, the sheer amount of paper coffee filters required means a disturbing number of trees are coming down. At that rate, making the decision to go paperless with reusable organic coffee filters is just as impactful as the decision to go plastic-less. Bonus, it will save you money down the road by replacing the repeating cost of coffee filters with a one-time purchase that will last you an entire year! Starting your day by making a conscious effort (difficult in the morning, we know) to brew with a sustainable filter is a great way to set the tone for your day.
Each pack contains two filters, so you can use one today and the other tomorrow, cycling through so you always have a fresh filter. To clean, remove the coffee grounds into your compost, rinse with tap water, and wring out the excess. Hang to dry, and you’re all done! We offer our filters in a pack of two so you can use one filter while the other is drying from the previous day. If using the filter daily, we recommend that you deep clean every month by boiling filters for 10 minutes. If still not as clean as you’d like, add a scoop of baking soda to your water. Repeat until the water runs clear.

My title says it all, plus I always send my grounds to the compost pile as well!
I ordered the size 2, but each one shrunk after thoroughly hand-rinsing prior to use with my coffee and then a little more after that first cup. I do two big spoons of grounds and 3 pours over that amount for my coffee, and the grounds come very close to going over the edge, so next time I'll order a Size 4 to account for that shrinkage, I think. (For context, I used to use Size 2 paper filters and would only need to pour over twice because of how tall the filter went without worry of the grounds spilling into the drink) But it works great and helps me avoid the waste of disposable filters, which is exactly what I wanted!
Hello R B! Because we make our coffee filters from 100% organic cotton fabric, there will be some shrinkage when boil washed (which we do recommend for monthly sanitation purposes). There will be some shrinkage at the start of your coffee filters life as well due to the hot water involved in the brewing process, but that is normal, and tightens up the stitching to keep grounds from getting through. It's wonderful to hear that they are helping you go zero waste, and thank you for sharing your experience!

These filters are single ply, but they do make very good coffee. There is no paper taste and they pore thru are fast as a paper filter. The filters dry fast and clean up very well.
Hello Scott! So happy to hear that you are enjoying your new coffee filters, but wanted to pop in to clarify that our coffee filters are actually double ply. As you noted, the extra layer doesn't affect the speed of brewing or the flavor of the coffee, but does make the filters more durable.

Works as expected! Feels great to no longer be using throw-away filters. It cleans really easily too. I ended up getting a #2 cone (to match the #2 cone sizes I would get with paper filters) and my only minor wish is that it was a little bigger in height so it could hold more water in one go.
I was looking for cotton filters to replace paper filters that I was using earlier. They are just perfect. Makes great coffee without creating paper waste, and they're really easy to clean up after use. Love using them everyday!
